Scope & product
What exactly does Tessaliq do?
Tessaliq is a verifier for EUDI Wallet credentials. A relying party (SaaS, marchand, plateforme) calls Tessaliq to check that a user's wallet can present a valid signed attribute — typically "age over 18" — without receiving the user's full identity. Tessaliq validates the cryptographic chain and returns a signed receipt.
What does Tessaliq not do?
- No KYC document scanning (no OCR, no MRZ, no face match)
- No biometric liveness detection
- No fraud scoring or device fingerprinting
- No credential issuance — Tessaliq consumes credentials issued by wallets like France Identité or the EU AV reference app
- No data retention of personal attributes — only audit metadata (session ID, nonce, outcome, proof hash)
Is Tessaliq production-ready?
No. Tessaliq is in Alpha / early access. The full technical stack (OID4VP 1.0 Final + HAIP + mdoc + SD-JWT-VC + DC API) is implemented and passes the OpenID Foundation conformance suite on 4 plans, 24/24 modules, zero warnings. But there is no paying customer in production yet, no signed SLA, and no commercial license finalized.
What is the mdoc AV default path vs the ZK advanced path?
Two verification paths exist. mdoc AV (default) uses selective disclosure — the wallet presents only the age attribute, validated against the issuer's signature. ZK advanced (opt-in, alpha) adds a zero-knowledge proof generated in the user's browser, so the server never sees the birth date even in RAM. The ZK path is pending a Barretenberg upstream fix before going to default production.
Standards & compliance
Which standards does Tessaliq implement?
OID4VP 1.0 Final, HAIP 1.0 Final, SD-JWT-VC, mdoc (ISO 18013-5/7), W3C Digital Credentials API, HPKE (RFC 9180). See /compliance for the full matrix with OpenID Foundation conformance plan links.
Is Tessaliq certified?
Not formally yet. OpenID Foundation self-certification requires a registered legal entity — which will follow the creation of the Tessaliq SASU. The conformance plan results are public and reproducible by anyone against the OIDF suite.
What about ARCOM / SREN / CNIL?
Tessaliq's architecture is designed to minimize personal data at every layer: audit logs contain no PII, receipts are signed JWTs with no personal attributes, the ZK path ensures the server never sees the birth date. This aligns with GDPR Article 5(1)(c) (data minimisation) and ARCOM's age verification requirements.
Pricing & deployment
How much does it cost?
Pricing is not public yet. Tessaliq is in Alpha — pilots are run under custom terms, typically free or symbolic in exchange for structured feedback. A public pricing page will land when the V1 production release is finalized (target autumn 2026, see changelog).
Can I self-host Tessaliq?
Self-host is a path we are exploring, not a shipped feature today. There is no public Docker image, no Helm chart, no commercial license finalized. If self-host is a hard requirement for your use case, tell us via the contact form — we'll share the roadmap and see how it fits.
Is Tessaliq open source?
Open-core, not full open source. The SDK Web, Noir circuits, SD-JWT-VC library and shared types are MIT-licensed and available. The verifier core (policies, trust store, receipt signing, admin) is currently private pending a commercial license decision.
Ecosystem & positioning
How is Tessaliq different from Scytáles, IDnow, AgeKey, Signicat?
Those are proprietary packaged offerings for pan-European mass-market age verification, often part of the EUDI Wallet MoU consortium. Tessaliq is positioned as a verifier dedicated to the French regulated market (ARCOM, SREN, CNIL), with public OIDF conformance and offline-verifiable audit receipts. It's not a head-to-head replacement — it's complementary for use cases where sovereignty, a public compliance trail, and French regulatory alignment matter.
Does Tessaliq support France Identité credentials?
The France Identité qualification trust store is integrated. Access to the France Identité Playground is in progress — a call with the Playground team is scheduled for 2026-05-04.
Does Tessaliq support the EU AV reference app?
Yes. The IACAs from the
eu-digital-identity-wallet/av-app-android-wallet-ui
repository (EUPL-1.2) are loaded in the staging trust store. See
/compliance for the full trust anchor list.
Who is behind Tessaliq?
Tessaliq is published by SASU Tessaliq, a French simplified joint-stock company registered with the Angers Trade and Companies Register on 7 May 2026, led by its President Olivier Meunier. The company is based in Pays de la Loire (Tiercé, Maine-et-Loire). The project is developed in public with a public changelog and open-core foundations.
